Mrs. Louise Smith Britt, 99, of Eufaula, Alabama, passed away Monday, July 27, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Graveside services will be held Friday, July 31, 2020, at 11 AM, in Fairview Cemetery Addition with Dr. Alan Cassady officiating and Chapman Funeral Home directing. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 101 E. Barbour St., Eufaula, Alabama 36027. Born December 5, 1920 in Eufaula, Alabama, Mrs. Britt was the daughter of the late William Henry Tyson and Emma Hatfield Smith. As a young lady, she worked as a bookkeeper for Cowikee Mills. In 1948, she married Jim L. Britt, Sr. and they operated a dairy for 30 years. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer for her Sunday School Class, the Dot Mitchell Sunday School Class. She played the piano for the Men's Adams Bible Class. Mrs. Britt was also a member of the Wesleyan Service Guild. Mrs. Britt was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Britt Sr. and her son-in-law, Eldon Bargewell. Survivors include her daughters: Marian Bargewell of Eufaula, Alabama and Sally (Ray) Melnyk of Valrico, Florida; her son: Jim L. (Valerie) Britt Jr. of Eufaula, Alabama; her grandchildren: Brant (Patti) Bargewell, Jason Bargewell, Lauren (Josh) Phillips, Audrey Bargewell, Logan (Vanessa) Bargewell, Stephen (Angie) Melnyk, Nancy (Brandon) Pickett; her great grandchildren: Eloise Bargewell, Evan Bargewell, Mackenzie Platte, Addison Phillips, Ashlyn Bargewell, Caanan Bargewell.
