JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A 12-year-old Jacksonville boy was paralyzed by a bullet that struck him as he was in his bed late Saturday night, police said.

Jacksonville Sheriff's spokesman Christian Hancock told news outlets that they've been told the boy may never walk again as a result of his injuries.

The shooting also injured an adult at the home, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Authorities said shots were fired into the home, but no further details about the shooting have been released.

There was no update on the condition of the adult who was shot. The names of the victims haven't been released.

Police are asking for anyone who in the area to review surveillance video for anything that might help investigators determine who fired the shots.
