The Fort Rucker Community Spouses’ Club will take dress donations for its Fairy Godmother dress drive project.

Donations of new and gently used prom dresses can be dropped off Friday, Feb. 5, between 3-6 p.m. at Munson Heights Community Center, 45 Red Cloud Road on Fort Rucker. The Spouses’ Club will offer refreshments during the donation period.

The dresses will go to students in need of a prom or formal dress, as well as military spouses who need to borrow dresses for formal military events, said Andrea Cipolla, FRCSC Fairy Godmother co-chair, in a news release about the event.

Students can take home a dress for free. Military spouses can borrow dresses, and the only fee will be a dry cleaning fee prior to returning the dress to the Fairy Godmother project.

“Our hope is to lessen (the) stress and financial burden for our local students and military spouses,” Cipolla said in the news release.

Project organizers have received dress donations from Consignment Cat, the Fort Rucker Thrift Shop and Admiring Glances. For more information about donating a dress, email fairygodmotherfrcsc@gmail.com.
