Each of the 16 columns at the Shorter Mansion Pavilion have plaques mounted at their base which are inscribed with specific names, interests or memories that the donors chose to honor. Gathered for the 2013 Eufaula Heritage Association Annual Meeting last week, representatives of 14 of the Shorter Mansion Pavilion column donors took time to pose for the commemorative photos published here. Absent from the event and not pictured are representatives of the James and Doris Bledsoe family and the Robert M. Dixon family. With the plaques in place, area residents and Shorter Mansion visitors alike have begun to stroll the pavilion space and pause before each column to read the donor’s inscription.
Since its formation in 1965, the Eufaula Heritage Association has been dedicated to the restoration and preservation of the beautiful antebellum Shorter Mansion on North Eufaula Avenue.
