Troy University is partnering with the Miss America Scholarship Foundation to provide undergraduate scholarships to local competition winners in Alabama and state winners who participate in the Miss America competition.
Under the partnership, local winners of Miss America-affiliated contests in Alabama will receive a four-year renewable $10,000 scholarship that is tuition-based and applies toward undergraduate studies at TROY.
State winners of Miss America-affiliated contests will receive a four-year renewable scholarship at Troy University that covers undergraduate tuition and on-campus housing.
“The Miss America program recognizes exceptional young women who are leaders in their schools and their communities,” said Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor. “We are thrilled to partner with the Miss America Scholarship Foundation to establish this scholarship program, which will bring outstanding students to Troy University.”
Troy University has a long history of partnership with the Miss America organization. The University has hosted the Miss Troy University pageant since 1972, with winners advancing to compete in Miss Alabama. Former Miss TROY Yolanda Fernandez claimed the Miss Alabama title in 1982.
