U.S. Army Col. Christopher Carlile of Enterprise has been named U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s “Veteran of the Month” for October.
“Transitioning from military to civilian life can be difficult for many of our veterans,” said Tuberville in announcing his choice. “U.S. Army Col. Chris Carlile of Enterprise has combined many of his passions and experiences to make this transition easier for Alabama’s heroes.
“Chris is a sixth-generation Army veteran who spent more than 36 years protecting our country across the globe,” said Tuberville. “After retiring from active duty, Chris and his wife Sandra returned to the Wiregrass where they first met when he was a young pilot in training. “He became involved in the Wiregrass veterans community and now helps veterans apply for their benefits as a Veterans’ Service Officer with Disabled American Vets, Post 9,” Tuberville said. “Chris also serves as the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Army Aviation Museum Foundation where he helps tell the story of Fort Rucker’s role in Army aviation to more than 100,000 visitors every year.
“His passion for Army aviation also shines through his involvement with the Ozark-based Friends of Army Aviation where he has coordinated public nationwide air shows, funeral honor flights, displays for community service, and helicopter ride events with their Huey choppers,” Tuberville said. “The Friends of Army Aviation made Alabama proud with their flights during the Army’s 250th Birthday parade in Washington, D.C.”
Tuberville called Carlile “a Harvard-educated cattleman” who is part of the Coffee County Cattlemen’s Association where he mentors other veterans who are wanting to transition from the military to the ag industry.
“We have a lot to thank Chris for when it comes to our military security and our national food security,” he added. “It’s my honor to recognize him as the October ‘Veteran of the Month.’”
Constituents can nominate an Alabama veteran and submit their information to Tuberville’s office for consideration in the 2026 “Veteran of the Month” series by emailing press_office@tuberville.senate.gov.
