DOTHAN, Ala. — The Wallace Community College Governors wrapped up a strong showing at their home Wallace Fall Classic at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Highland Oaks, with the Govs' top team earning a team runner-up finish behind Central Alabama Community College. The Govs' second team also finished well, thanks to a strong third round to solidify third place.
Wallace placed three golfers on the tournament's five-man All-Tournament Team, highlighted by an outstanding individual performance from sophomore Fisher Prichard.
Prichard finished second overall in the tournament at 5-under par, recording the round of the tournament with a 7-under-par final round on Tuesday. His performance moved him up the individual leaderboard and placed him six strokes behind individual champion Jacob Lee of Central Alabama Community College.
"I thought it was a fantastic tournament for both of our teams," said Wallace head golf coach Scott Stephens. "We still need to learn how to finish our rounds as individuals, but overall I was proud of how we played in our own tournament."
Stephens also praised Prichard for his performance throughout the tournament.
"Fisher had an outstanding tournament. It just shows what hard work will do. He earned every bit of what he accomplished today and in this tournament."
Bryce Matthews also turned in a strong performance for the Govs, finishing third overall at 4-under par after firing a 4-under-par round in the final round on Tuesday. Matthews was joined by Sam Broadaway, who finished fifth overall at 3-under par after also shooting 4-under in the final round.
The Govs continued to place golfers in the top 20 of the individual leaderboard, with Jaxon Wilson finishing tied for 10th, Ian Senn tied for 14th and Parker Whitney tied for 16th.
The team will be back in action Monday, Oct. 19, at the LBW Saints Invitational at the Robert Trent Jones - Cambrian Ridge Golf Course in Greenville, Alabama.
