TROY, Ala. – Troy Football closes out a busy reunion season by celebrating the 2006 Sun Belt champions in conjunction with the final home game of the regular season on Nov. 21 when Troy hosts Georgia Southern.
The 2006 Trojans began one of the greatest runs in program history, as Troy would go on to win five straight league titles under legendary head coach Larry Blakeney. After opening the season with one of the most difficult schedules in the country – Florida State, Georgia Tech and Nebraska – Troy won seven of its last eight games, including a 41-17 blowout of Rice in the New Orleans Bowl, Troy's first-ever bowl title.
Omar Haugabook, Gary Banks and Zach Yenser led the Troy offense while Brannon Condren earned all-league first team honors on defense and Leodis McKelvin set the stage for his All-America season the following year.
All returning members of the 2006 squad will receive up to four complimentary tickets to the game and will help lead the team into The Vet during Trojan Walk. Additionally, Troy Athletics will host an exclusive tailgate party for the team and their families in Tailgate Terrace, and the players will be recognized on the field during the game.
Troy will honor the 1986 Gulf South championship team on Sept. 12 and the 1996 Southland Conference championship team on Nov. 7.
